  • Ranked results in Ancestry

I've forgotten how to get rid of the ranked results. Please can someone kick my braincell?

It's driving me crackers getting all the rubbish when all I want to do is search for maud anl*y in a census.

    Thanks, Jools

When doing any search tick the box for "exact matches only"

Could anl*y count as an exact match?

I do not have access to Ancestry just now so I cannot try it.

Yes Hugo. When you are doing exact match searches you can include a wildcard (*) which can equal any or no letters.

For example an exact match search using Thom*son will bring up Thomson, Thompson, Thomason etc etc.

The only thing you need to remember is to have three characters before the wildcard (*)
