  • Can anyone help with this please??

I am helping someone else finding info on this man...

His name was Alfred Marcus Bicknell, he was born in Chiswick London and resided at 461 North End Road Fulham. In 1915 Alfie was sent to the Western Front in France with the Royal Field Artillery and became a Gunner on howitzers, he was part of 'D-Battery' of the 63rd. Brigade. He saw action at the Somme in 1916 and for the gallantry he showed in battle was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field.

He and his family are all listed on the 1901 & 1911.

He was awarded the Military Medal AGAIN, a bar placed on his original MM for his actions at Cambrai in 1917. He was one of only 5796 men out of over 5 million soldiers to receive the honour twice.

He is buried at a British military cemetery named Combles Community Cemetery Extension.

His full title was: 95153. Corporal Alfred M. Bicknell, MM and Bar. 'D- Bty' 63rd. Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.

    Killed in action, 05.09.18.

What Im looking for is some sort of newspaper report of his death or receiving of his medal's....The local newspaper has no record of anything about him. Where if anywhere would I need to look to find anything?

Did you know that the medal and bar were sold on ebay in September? I hope it won't upset your friend. The description gives a bit more information about when they were awarded although I haven't found them in the London Gazette yet
