  • Two entries for a birth query ???

    I have a Nellie Beatrice Rose District Edmonton Mar 1903 Volume 3a Page 587 with a cross near the entry at the bottom of the page is a Nellie Rose district Newark Volume 7B Page 474A

    why would that be thanks ??

    Doesn't that mean an entry was missed and this is the only way they can rectify the error ?

      They are two different registrations.
      The one that is handwritten at the bottom of the page is a late entry or correction, the cross further up the page just shows where it should appear alphabetically.

          Where do you think your Nellie Rose was born.
          Edmonton is Middlesex, Newark is Nottinhamshire.

            thats the point I only found her on the 1911 census shes one of my Guttentags ???? says Hackney on the census .

              I'd go for the Edmonton one then as that's north London next to Hackey.

                They are two registrations for two different people - if it states on the census that she was born in Hackney then the Edmonton one sounds more likely.

                      yes Margaret quite agree but its money well sent as far as Im concerned, as I now know who my Great Grandparents were on my mothers side.
