Apple Mac book Users?

Can you tell me if you need Virus protection on an Apple Mac? My daughter has been told its not needed???

Dave says no, you don't as there are no virus attacking Macs. They are mostly targeted at Windows.

Although, due to the design of their operating system, Macs are relatively immune, you should not fall into the trap of expecting them to remain as such..

antivirus / internet security apps are a worthwhile addition to any system.. Just because there are few historical incidences of Macs being hit by viruses, doesnt mean they will not be in the future

Every system I use has an antivirus app on it whether i am using Windows, Mac or Linux...

At the moment we have no mac antivirus on either of our computers. However we do (very rarely now) run windows in parallels so we have antivirus on that. I do remember hearing them say on 'click' on the bbc news recently about a virus going around that would affect a mac.
