Was wondering if anyone has a suggestion, I have a relation in the 1901 census aged 35 by the name of George E Beaumont born Thurlston Yorkshire. Seeing that he was 35 that would mean he was born in 1866, however on searching the 1871 census when he would be 5 and 1891 aged 25 census he is no where to be found There are George Beaumonts listed at that same age but not born in Thurlston. Any help please.

Rob.
I haven't tried using the GR search system, but does it allow for "wildcards" or Soundex?
If so, it would be worth experimenting with putting in less info in the search terms, and substituting wildcards. For instance, "Thurlston*" would pick up both "Thurlston" , which you had expected, and "Thurlstone" (or anything else starting with "Thurlston..."), which you hadn't expected.
If you (or anyone else reading this) haven't come across "wildcards", then (usually)"?" stands for a single character, andSome systems demand a certain number of specified characters before the wildcard; Ancestry, for instance, requires a minimum of three (and that doesn't allow spaces).
"*" for any number of characters.

Leonard BENNETT in Detroit & Florida ; WARR/WOR, STRATFORD & GARDNER/GARNAR (Oxon); CHRISTMAS, RUSSELL, PAFOOT/PAFFORD (Hants); BIGWOOD, HAYLER/HAILOR (Sussex); LANCASTER (Beds, Berks, Wilts) - plus - COCKS (Spitalfields, Liverpool, Plymouth); RUSE/ROWSE, TREMEER, WADLIN(G)/WADLETON (Devonport, E Cornwall); GOULD (S Devon); CHAPMAN, HALL/HOLE, HORN (N Devon); BARRON, SCANTLEBURY (Mevagissey)...
