  • Firefox Ancestry England census search Add-on

    Hi,

I dont know if this will help many people but I've just written a firefox plugin which adds a toolbar to the browser. Say you're on an Ancestry search results page for England 1901 and want to check the results for 1891 using the same criteria but you dont want to have go through the whole process of going to the home page, finding the 1891 england census and inputting all the search options again on the 1891. Simply click the 1891 link on the toolbar and it'll go to the 1891 census and retain all your data (although the1881 doesn't always).

All it does is get the current page address, find the db=uki1901 bit and changes it to db=uki1891 and loads the new page. You can do this manually but clicking a button's easier.

I haven't tested it in all versions of firefox but it seems to work in versions 1.5 and 3.0.5.

    Any suggestions and comments welcome.

    It can be downloaded here

Sounds interesting! I might give it a go.
