  • James Whiles Nottingham

    Hi

I am trying to find James Whiles and his wife Matilda on the 1871 census. I received his death cert on Saturday.

Cert says died 14th Dec 1871 James Whiles Union Workhouse Nottingham aged 62, a framework knitter died of Paralysis, certified. The informant Joseph Cooper present at death Union Workhouse Nottingham.

From Census etc I have his birth approx 1803 Nottingham

I have looked for Joseph on 1871 census and he is an inmate at the workhouse.

James married Matilda Blower 21 Jul 1859 he was 55 and she was 44 both been married before.

1861 they are together with Sarah and Benjamin his children from 1st marriage and Eliza Blower her daughter.

Can't find them on 1871 so had Matilda died but can't find her death.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I've had a look on my Nottingham BMD CDs but there is no burial for Matilda. Sorry.

        Thanks Wendy.

Perhaps she remarried after his death as she was younger than him but are badly transcribed on 1871 census.
