    Good morning all

    Can anyone read the occupation for William Hyde age 30 on the 1841 census (page 2), I just can't read what it says

    HO107, Piece 343,Book 17, District 5, Folio 19, Page 32

    My first guess was Butcher J (journeyman) - but I am really not sure.

        I don't know, but to me it looks like Brushm J. There are a couple more on the page before...I don't think that it is butcher, but that is all I can make out of it no matter what way I squint!!

            I keep looking and I think that he must be a Brushmaker...the J could be for Journeyman.

              the 'hm' is same as coach m below, and if you look closely, the 'h' has a little curl underneath same as in 'coachm'
