  • How can I ....

make any progress with this one?

John Morgan b1863 Llanfihangel, Cardigan, Wales
son of Morgan Morgan(s) and Ann(e)

He's listed aged 18 living with family on 1881 census (RG11, piece/folio 5450/49, Pg 4) living at Tynewydd, Gwnnws Lower, Cardigan

He's not living with the family in 1891 or 1901.

According to elderly rellie (now deceased) he went to America and was in partnership with a doctor there. Don't know when he went or where to.

So ........... what's the likelihood of tracking him down?

    well,

you could do a census search on ancestry, and search the USA records too? or check the passenger lists (I think they have some on ancestry too)...

      Hi Julie - I've been looking on Ancestry and I can see;

      UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960

but not outgoing passenger lists ... am I missing something here?

can anyone please point me in the right direction?

        not sure,

havent been doing much tree stuff, and even less searching on ancestry of late..

I know that www.findmypast.com have passenger lists, but I dont sub to them unfortunately..

figured if you could find him on census, then you might have abetter idea of when he went over, and where..

thanks Julie for findmypast info ... not looked for anyone outside of UK before!!

I've had a look at Ancestry and found several John Morgans b1863 - so have posted another thread to see if anyone has access to USA census records.

          thanks again for your help

Hi again Julie - not seen that one, there's several others in Wales ....

don't think it's him as he was a Doctor in America ...

just found some notes I'd written down that he was going to be a minister before he left
