  • Tubb Hungerford

Looking for any information on Sarah Tubb born 1836 in Hungerford. She was one of three illegitimate daughters born to Jane Tubb of Hungerford, Berkshire.
    Any help much appreciated,
    Fortuna

This looks like her in 1851:
    Smitham Bridge, Hungerford, Berkshire

Charles Tubb Head Mar 68 Late Labourer Berks Hungerford Blind
Elizabeth Do Wife Mar 66 Wilts Highworth
Jane Do Daughter U 38 Field Work Berks Hungerford
Allis Do Do U 17 Do Do
Sarah Tubb Daughter U 14 Scholar Berks Hungerford
Elizabeth Do Do 7 Do Do

Are you trying to trace Sarah forwards to find out what happened to her, or are you trying to trace her family back?

      Hi Kiterunner,
Sorry I should have said 'forward' I have her parent and her Grandparents and am curious to find out if she had an early death but cannot find a marriage or a death (or her father for that matter!)
      Regards,

What is it about these Fieldwomen?

I save a similar example myself in Oxfordshire, 3 kids before she got married. It must be the fresh air and exercise. Lol

          Hi Grampa Jim,

She never did marry! She died aged 58 not very old herself.

There is a possible marriage Dec 1856, Hungerford district, to either James Spicer or Charles Stockwel. (The other one married Harriet Drew.) But there seem to be a lot of Sarah Tubbs around that area, as you probably know!

On the 1861 census, there is a James Spicer with wife Harriett, and so this looks as though it should be your Sarah - what do you know, she's on the same page as the rest of the Tubb family!!!

              Smitham Bridge, Hungerford, Berks:
Charles Stockwell Head Mar 28 Ag Lab Berks Ham(?)
Sarah Do Wife Do 25 Do Hungerford
Elizabeth Do Daur Un 4 Do Do
Reuben W Do Son Do 1 Do Do

I bet you've looked at that page loads of times!
