  • Rennie Problem

    Can anyone explain this?

Wyndham George Rennie was born June 1864 according to Freebmd (looks like his mother Wyndham Georgiana died in child birth).

Wyndham George Rennie died in Dec 1892 according to Freebmd aged 28.

On Ancestry, Mr Wyndham Rennie travelled back from Peru aged 50 in 1913.

Now given that I doubt there were more than one Wyndham Rennie's born 1863-4, how can a dead man be visiting Peru?

Well, clearly there was more than one Wyndham as one was dead and one was travelling. Maybe the one travelling back from Peru was born with another name?

I can only see one Wyndham in the censuses, in 1871.

There's a John Henry Wyndham Rennie on the Oxford Uni alumni. He was 18 in 1879, so maybe this is his birth?

      Births Dec 1861

RENNIE John Henry Kensington 1a 51 (no more middle initials, unfortunately!)

I haven't looked at the censuses yet though!

          His marriage:

          Marriages Dec 1887
          JARRETT Caroline Kensington 1a 256
LODGE William Charles Kensington 1a 256
          RENNIE John Henry W Kensington 1a 256 <<<<<<<<<<<<
          Seller Mary Van Horn N Kensington 1a 256 <<<<<<<<<<<

Pity Mary didn't have a more unusual first name, but he is with a Mrs Mary Rennie on the passenger list and thre age gap matches, for what that's worth, given it's a very average gap!! lol

Thanks all. I think he's related to my Rennie's at least as they all ended up in Kensington in the mid 1800s. I'll trace him back and have a look.
