Some of you might have read my thread asking for help with Australian emmigration at the weekend, & I've spent the last couple of days looking at any trace I could find.
I've got many branches of one of my families who mainly emmigrated to New Zealand, but also Australia, anytime from 1850 to after 1900.
Its suprising how many I've found on the UK Immigration Passenger Lists on Ancestry.
One chap who emmigrated in the 1870s, returned in 1916 age 67. He was a widower by then, but still had brothers & sisters in the UK, & I think he must have wanted to visit them before he died, so to speak.
The information on the lists is variable, but some of them have addresses that the people are visiting in the UK. So if you know someone emmigrated, just have a look to see if they came back to visit....you never know what you might find.
