I have come across a family memeber that died during the war. There is a war plaque with his name on in Dursley (I have not seen but have heard about). How can I go about looking at records of such event?

He should be on here:
:: CWGC ::
Though not everone who died is.
Did he have a middle name/initial? I couldn't see one who was just Charles.

You might just find something interesting here, though coverage is quite patchy:

Probably only by seeing his service record or his death cert and that might not tell you what you want to know. The death cert probably won't have any explicit details, but will cost you £7. The service record will cost you £30 and is only available to the next of kin or to someone else with the next of kin's permission. It might well tell you what you want to know, but not guaranteed.
