  • 1881 reading help, please (Suffolk geography)

Another Linkson one for you (don't groan at the back)

    RG11; Piece: 253; Folio: 119; Page: 26

    1881 census

    transcribed as Emelia Linkingson

Can anyone make out her birthplace please?

Ancestry have it as "Rushell ?" in Suffolk

I think it may start with a B or an over enthusiastic D

I'm rubbish on geography in that part of the country so anyone familiar with Suffolk villages may know what it is without trying

    Thanks in advance

Is she Amelia Mann who I can't find on the earlier censuses, so the question has become irrelevant?

Have you found her on the later census at all? The only place I can think of is Buxhall, Suffolk ?

She may be Alice Amelia Mann b1858 - Depwade registration district.
        Depwade covers Rushall.

Oooh, I looked at that one! Is Rushall in Suffolk or Norfolk?

Not sure Merry - but when you click on Depwade in the freeBMD it says Norfolk/Suffolk so I am presuming it is on the border somewhere!

              yes she's Amelia Mann

she dies in 1886 and then Edward disappears completely until he dies in 1931

Daughter Jane is on 1891 as "James" living with grandparents (although recorded as daughter) and on 1901 as a servant - but can't see Edward, who I'm more interested in.

Jane, who is the daughter, is in Islington in 1891 with her grandparents.

Amelia, the mother, who is supposedly from Suffolk died in 1886, in Islington. That's where she married as well so no clues there either

Maybe Edward went abroad & returned by 1931?

I suppose you've already thought of that? Lol!

not my direct line so I don't have the marriage certificate. I was just trying to tie off some missing census and death registrations.

okay - I think I've discounted Alice Amelia Mann born in Depwade 185 as there is a death for her in Dec Q 1861
