  • Census help needed

Hi can anyone help me track this gentleman. I found his gravestone in a local cemetery while my daughter was collecting photos of graves for her GCSE Art.

I've found him on the 1881 census at family search

Daniel Mackintosh 65 born cap… perth Scotland c1815 Labourer On Physical Geography And Geology
Ellen Mackintosh 55 wife born Chichester sussex c1826

They are living at 36 Whitford road Tranmere (Birkenhead Cheshire)

    Daniel dies July 1891.

Could anyone find him and his wife on any of the other census.

    Thank you

    Teresa

I had a thought - that's Lecturer, when you look at the image, not Labourer. That makes more sense.

Looks like they married in 1851, in M/cr Cathedral, and her maiden name was LYON.

(UKBMD - Births, Marriages, Deaths Indexes & Census transcriptions for the UK, On-Line)

I haven't looked - but is that on the IGI? †

That seems a bit more likely than the M/cr Cathedral one that I'd found in 1851.

It says Ellen born in "Chickston Essex"

It clearly says he was born in Scotland too, lol!

Well done Christine! However did you find that one?

Thank you for all your help last night, this is a larger photo of the gravestone. I tried to post it last night and the computer ended up crashing.
I'm going to see if I can find out what the house looked like that Daniel Mackintosh lived in.
