I've 3 embroidered silk postcards written by my Grandfather to my Grandmother, Mother and Aunt, Xmas 1918 "Solesmes"

I've googled and find that there's a Benedictine Abbey there. Grandad was a soldier in WW1 but what would he've been doing there? Holed up?

Thanks Jean, I'm assuming that there must have been some sort of hospital, maybe within the Monastery as Grandad survived the war

Solesmes is a very interesting place to visit. Went many years ago and loved it.

Now, I read a very interesting article once about embroidered cards that the soldiers made and sent back to loved ones.

Can't remember where though.
