This is one of those annoying people who could be in either England or Wales, so I spend my whole time jumping from one census to the other looking for him.
Edward Thomas BUTLER - on the 1881 he is at Llanilar, Cardiganshire, with his uncle James MORGAN age 46 Gamekeeper born Cardigan Llanagan and aunt Anne Morgan age 36 born Wiltshire Malmsbury. Edward is age 18, Pupil Teacher born Shropshire Nordley (I think). Sorry if some of those Welsh placenames are wrong!
I'm trying to confirm that he is the same Edward Thomas Butler who married a relative of mine, Mildred Brown. (They lived in India after marriage so won't be on later censuses to check his birthplace.) The Times report of their marriage 22nd Nov 1889 says "the Rev Edward Thomas Butler, son of the late Joseph Butler, Cardiganshire", which is what makes me think the one I've found in 1881 is probably the right one.
So can anybody find him in 1871, please? Or please can you help find the connection making Edward the Morgans' nephew - but I have Welsh Morgans elsewhere in my tree so I know how difficult it is to get anywhere with them!
