  • Luke Walker 1851?

Can anybody find Luke Walker (not Sky!) in 1851. I have him in 1861 (Piece: 2200; Folio: 111; Page: 22) - a carpenter married to Hannah and with children Mary Ann, Sarah Ann, Laura Mary and Luke. I suspect that Mary Ann is from a previous marriage - she was born 1843 and the others are 1855, 1859 and 1860/61.

In 1861 he is living in Sowe, Warwickshire (Walsgrave on Sowe) and is noted as born there. I have been looking all evening, and can't find him. According to 1861 he was born abt 1807. The nearest I have found is a boat builder b 1800 but with no Mary Ann aged 7/8 in tow ....

Thanks to Elaine I have got a bit further back. Luke's parents appear to be Thomas Walker and Eleanor Millerchip - married 17 March 1806 at St Laurence, Foleshill. I can't seem to find a birth for either of them anywhere on IGI.

          Try the Foleshill baptisms here:

          St Laurence Foleshill Baptisms

There are several variations on the name Millichip in the index.

Thanks Mary! I'd somehow forgotten that I have the Coventry FHS CD from St Laurence - I think I may have found Eleanor's birth on there.
