  • Can you use Vista and Adobe together?

Daughter has Windows Vista and the freebie Adobe program.

Everytime she tries to open a PDF file it tells her she can't do it. She ignores the message the opens it anyway.

Anyone know if there's a problem......or is she causing one????

    AdobeReader works fine with Vista.
It might be worth her while checking that she has the latest version of Adobe on her computer, which I think is version 9.

What does the actual wording of the message say?

PFD files created in the latest version have some features that will not work in older versions, hence the 'prompt'.

Could just be Adobe saying in 'may not' open and encouraging her to download the lates version.

      Version 9 available from here

I haven't got daughter with me, but from memory seeing it this morning, a little window comes up which says something along the lines of ...
        "Windows cannot open this file"

        then under that

        "Open anyway"

If you click on "Open anyway" it will usually open the file, but then often locks up.

The local computer "wizz" said it's a well known problem with Vista and Adobe compatability.

I thought I'd have heard more about it if it was........but then.......

        She's got version 8 I think. I know it's not 9.

Uninstall the current Adobe version, re-boot the pc, disk clean-up & disk defrag and then go to the Adobe website here and download a clean version.

Never had problems with Vista and Adobe.

ps: I would recommend not downloading the Google toolbar.
