  • Can anybody find Laura's birth registration?

One of my great aunties was called Laura Anne BLATCHFORD. The 1901 census - RG13; Piece: 2214; Folio: 24; Page: 1 - has her aged 3 with parents Thomas and Florence, and brothers Archie and William. That gives her a year of birth c1898.

She married Charles A BURT in St Austell in 1920, and going through the death indexes, I have found her death reg in Jan 1987 in Truro, but her date of birth is given as 29th April 1900 :(

I've checked the birth indexes from 1896 to 1900, and I can't see her obviously. Can anybody see her?

I trawled 1897,8 and 9. Nothing. Could be the one Tracy found, but seems a bit late.

Do you have her parent's marriage? Could the older two been born before that?

            Oh, well done Mary!

As a side note, I can't find Archie either.

Her parents were married 20th June 1894 at the Register Office in St Austell.

I always knew her as Aunty Laura, so not sure about the Annie one. There are several Blatchford families in the St Austell area all being cousins, so Annie could belong to a number of families.

Glad it's not myneyesight playing up then ;)

Forgot to say - do you think that the death reg is my Aunty Laura? I don't know who registered the death, but they may have got the year wrong.

Her birth was registered in the second quarter of the year, which is compatible with a birthday on 29th April. People often get birth dates wrong when they register deaths, and you don't have to produce any evidence of age, so that death registration is quite likely to be your Auntie Laura.
