  • christening and the 1861... missing otherwise

Catherine Stinson was christened 10 January 1823 in Quorndon, Leicestershire daughter of Richard and Margaret. Richard and Margaret both died in the 1820s.

Catherine is here in 1861, a housekeeper to her cousin (actually not a cousin, but very distant rellies by marriage).

Source Citation: Class: RG9; Piece: 2271; Folio: 13; Page: 20

Problem is though, I cannot find Catherine in 1841, 1851 or after the 1861 census. Can't seem to see a death or marriage either.

    Thanks in advance

Well she's mistranscribed there and chances are she's mistranscribed elsewhere too. I'll take a shufti.

      Thanks Nell,

I have looked under every possible combination I could think of.

The only likely one that I have seen in 1851 is where she is a servant in London, but it says she was born in London, not Leicestershire. Could be a mistranscription I suppose

        Tom

Remember that as she was a servant her birth details would have been provided by her employer who might not have known where she was born or cared about being accurate.

That looks like it might be her

*wonders if Pippa has seen this. She had Waterfield's from Thringstone*

Tom, it was so easy to find .... hope you're not overworking and that it was just a case of not seeing the wood for the trees

Sounds like you could have an exciting link there ;)

I just realised Pippa that the William Waterfield already appears in my tree because another Waterfield married someone else who is in some way connected to someone else.
