I have a book that has loads of names like that, all taken from the parish records.

"Potty, Fartwell & Knob" Extraordinary but true names of British people - by Russell Ash.

                Gives dates and parishes.

Yes, Val, I think there were two, father and son with the same name.

Golden Balls, baptised 1813 - presumably named after the prominent dandy of the day and at one times the richest man in the country?

I've just looked at ancestry trees and it seems his mum's maiden name was Golden.

                            I never noticed that!

There are quite a few rude ones in the book. Daren't post them on here though, I'd get banned!:(

I found a Mr Blackbum on the census the other day.

Disappointingly, it was just a mistranscription for Blackburn.

I would have thought that Enema was a mistran of Emma! Well, I sincerely hope so.

When checking the census records the other day I thought I would check to see if relatives lived next door to each other as it was a small country town.

The next door neighbours name was F*nny Ring....I bet she wished she had a generic name like most peole had.
