OC,I was given to understand these records are recently deciphered and are in addition to the ones transcribed earlier and available on Family History on-line.
Have I got the wrong end of the stick?

To boldly go where no genealogist has gone before....
Reading that link, it appears to be talking about the project undertaken by the MFHS, which is the one on FamilyHistory online.
That web page says the project was completed in 2005 (which is what I had understood) and I haven't heard of any further recreation...but will be DELIGHTED if they have done more work!!!!
OC, there was some talk of all this on the Bolton and Lancashire lists recently, but they may have got it wrong. Another possibility is there are additional records yet to come out and someone optimistically thought this site was the one. I will check the list archives and see what they say again. Sorry if I've raised someones hopes unneccessarily

Later: Checking back, I have so far only been able to ascertain that the website is new, the Manchester list writes on Oct 7th
''New site from Manchester & Lancashire FHS:
Hi everyone,
Sorry to have misled everyone on the above topic. I hope I have now straightened up what is happening.
The website I gave you was new, but contained an index from the Manchester FHS project.
There is though new work being done on the subject, this time by the National Archives BBC NEWS | England | Remains of census restored
The report mentiones the FHS work and says the TNA project is indeed in addition to this
But still in its earlier stages it seems
I hope I have it right this time!

perhaps a few more shreds of paper have come to light since the project ended?
They certainly looked like shreds on that film, didn't they? Looked like something the dog had chewed.
I was wondering if anyone saw their name highlighted on the report. I was just imagining how that would feel. :D:D:D
