  • Feedback from Survey

You may remember that a couple of months ago we circulated a questionnaire to some of the members.
Below are some of the comments and results from the survey - our apologies for the delay in providing feedback.

Approximately 200 questionnaires were distributed to active members of the site whose post count was more than 10. We were pleased with the return percentage, which was 41%.

59% percent of the people who responded spend between 1 and 5 hours on the site daily, with 11% spending more time than that.

A very positive response was received concerning the most popular forum, the Research area of the site, with 87% of responders stating that they find it helpful in their research. Very few members, in fact just less than 2%, stated that they rarely or never use the Research forums. There were very few suggestions of how this part of the site could be improved, which indicated that members are satisfied with the current setup.

The community forums proved to be the second most popular section of the site and the team were pleased to receive comments that members feel FTF is a friendly, caring and supportive site.

We were disappointed to see that 45% of the members who replied stated that they rarely or never look at the Wiki, with comments suggesting this may be due to difficulty with navigation. 74% of those who use the wiki stated that it had been helpful in their research.

We were pleased to see that a high percentage of members found the Site Information forum to be helpful.

The replies received indicated that the FTF magazine is widely read, with only 19% saying they rarely or never read it. Some interesting ideas for future issues were received, and these comments were passed directly to the Magazine Team.

Nearly 50% of the members who replied have contributed to the Places of Worship project, although it should be noted that quite a few of the members who had not participated were overseas members. 25% of members had used the Places of Worship images to complement their research. There was a 97% positive response as to whether the project is worthwhile, and comments were received that it allowed members to be involved with the site.

66% had uploaded a GEDCOM to the site, with 74% stating that they found the GEDCOM facility useful.

There were many general comments praising the overall friendly and helpful feel of the site, and thanking everybody involved in its management and development. The usefulness of the Research board, Wiki and magazine in particular were mentioned by many members.
