  • Can u find this elusive relly? please?

I am looking for Albert Charles Baker born 1899, not known where, his father was George Frederick Baker, a farmer ,(on his marriage cert in 1928). He died in 1956 aged 56 in Devon. Also his wfe Sheila Isobel Baker (maiden name) her father was given as William THomas Baker a plumber, they were married in Bexhill,Sussex on Dec 22 1928. I would very much appreciate any help with these two. Thanks

The only two realistic ones on Ancestry births are these- neither has the isobel, but all the others are too late, and there dont seem to be any earlier - Sheila is quite a modern name I suppse

Sheila Baker 1904 Oct-Nov-Dec Brentford Middlesex

Sheila Baker 1913 Oct-Nov-Dec Adams Hastings (1837-1977) Sussex

There is an Albert Charles Baker birth Dec quarter 1898 Milton district, vol 2a p 896, and one Jun quarter 1899 Farnham district vol 2a p 133, which are the most likely for that area, but there are lots of other possibles.

Are the marriage witnesses anyone helpful?

Are you aware of any other family members, siblings etc to any of these people?

The death cert may give you a place of birth for Sheila.

This is probably a complete co-incidence, but:

                Marriages Jun 1917
                Baker William T Teffer Eastbourne 2b 203 <<<<<<<<<<<
Case Minnie George Eastbourne 2b 203
                George Alfred J Case Eastbourne 2b 203
                Teffer Eleanor M Baker Eastbourne 2b 203 <<<<<<<<<<<<<

                and

                Births Dec 1906
Teffer Sheila Isabel Kensington 1a 98

Shelia couldn't have had a name change and perhaps a step-father called Baker?

I'd forget my last post......if (OK, if) these two are twins:

                  Births Dec 1906
Teffer Isabel Noel Kensington 1a 98
Teffer Sheila Isabel Kensington 1a 98

then they look like December babies, not October babies!!

                    Merry

Could that be a very quick change of mind on the name of the child?

(I said Sheila Isabel, you idiot, not Isabel Noel. Get back there this minute and get it changed and don't you dare come home till you've done it)

There's an Eleanor M Teffer b St Pancras in 1878.

                                Then there's this chap:

                                Births Jun 1883
Baker William Thomas Eastbourne 2b 83

                                and 1901:

William Baker 17 b Sussex Eastbourne living East Sussex Eastbourne Occ Labourer Plumbers

but I can't see him on Ancestry :( (the above is from the TNA index)

Yes Merry I found her , she's on the 1881 Mother Eleanor M (Nee Wing )Father William FA Teffer , he turns out to be Wilhelm August F Teffer born Germany. Some progress there as I have found a possible dad for Eleanor Wing, Adolphus H A Wing born marylebone 1824, just looking for his wife now. No luck with Albert Baker then, he said he was born in Canada but there seems to be some doubt.

Canada? Pity he didn't live until 1969 or his place of birth might have been recorded on his death cert.

I have just been looking at marriages for an Isabel Noel? and found a Noel Isabel Gittens who married in 1925, also found she was registered in 1909 I am wondering is this is the twin to Sheila Isabel born 1906 and then adopted 1909. Do I send for the birth cert or the marriage cert: or both?

Rosy, Noel's birth was registered in 1909 so I don't see how she could be twin to someone who was born in 1906? Or am I missing something?
