I am trying to find a "lost" ancestor for a friend and have hit a brickwall - does anyone have a sledgehammer?
The details are:
EPHRAIM COOK born Crowland, Lincolnshire 1854.
The family are shown on the 1891 Census living at 137 Fortyacre Lane, Canning Town, West Ham - Reference RG12 Piece 1319 Folio 138 Page 52 - his place os birth is shown as "Croton" Lincolnshire. His wife Sarah Walton was born 1854 in Moulton, Lincolnshire. In addition to the children shown on the Census a further child was born in 1899. On the 1901 Census Sarah Cook is shown as a visitor in Holbeach, Lincolnshire she is shown as "married" - Reference RG13 Piece 3039 Folio 26 Page 10. Two of her children shown on the 1891 Census are with her but the child born in 1899 is not shown. The other children are in their teens and are probably working elsewhere, but Ephraim their father has disappeared.
Apparently Ephraim could also be known as James or Thomas Cook/Cooke!
I found one Ephraim Cook who was born and died in Buckinghamshhire but that is the only death I have found to date.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Jean
