  • Ordering certs

    Hi All

I am helping someone who lives in Canada. They wish to puchase BMD certificates for Uk events.

Which would be the best website for me to direct them to?

Being in the UK myself I have not needed to do this before.

    Thanks
    WendyP

They should use the GRO - certificate costs £7 (or the equivalent in their currency) and includes postage worldwide!

Be wary of that other official looking site that pops up when you google and charges a fortune for certificates.

Pay no more than £7 with reference or £10 without.

It says £7 (with ref) and £10 (without) for online orders in their list of fees: Order Certificates: Certificate fees - Birth, marriage and death certificates

(£8.50 and £11.50 for orders by post, phone or fax)

Oh, I'm sure I paid £11 when I asked for checks. I was robbed! Or more likely my memory is playing tricks. Haven't ordered a cert for quite a while now.

I ordered a cert near the end of August (shortly before the latest WDYTYA series began airing) and it arrived here in Canada in just under two weeks. Hopefully, it will be just as fast for your friend.
