Does anyone know how I could find info on someone serving in the Green Howards C1930 ?
My friend has asked if I can get any info on her Grandfather. She has tried the Green Howards but they charge to do research.
    Many thanks

This is the website for the "Friends of the Green Howards":

I would have thought that his service papers will still be with the MOD and that if she wants those she would have to go the normal route or applying for them as next-of-kin.

I have found one name which could be a rellie in the National Archives.
Will have to have a look at the service records later. OH is grumbling as he wants us to go out!
          Many thanks.

My grandfather was in the green Howard's right up to his death in 1940.
He joined the Richmond north Yorkshire regiment thinking it would be the surrey one!!LOL!!
There is a museum in Richmond that has a lot of info and if you e-mail them they will get in touch.
We went there after visiting my granddads grave and met the major who runs things.
I need to send off for granddads service records.
