  • Marriage in UK/America

    Hello

Can anybody see a marriage between Oscar Byrn and an Abigail in either the UK or America?

Whilst in America Oscar met his future wife who was also an Actress by the name of Abigail ?

He was definately married before 1850.

Unfortunately that is all the info i have.

Whilst doing alot of googling i found a ref to a Miss Smith (since Mrs Oscar Byrn)

So she may have been Abigail Smith

    Danny

It looks as though he was married twice:

On the Drury Lane playbill for 8 May 1817 'Mrs Oscar Byrne' is identified as 'late Miss Smith'.
Charles Edward Horn's Memoirs of His ... - Google Book Search

So he presumably married the Miss Smith he met in America before 1817, then she died or whatever, and he married Abigail Mahoney in 1856 (assuming it's the same Oscar Byrn).

Whilst googling i found that Oscar and his father were living or working in Convent/Covent Garden

                    Looks very promising

Oscar's with Abby in the 1861 census. It says he was a naturalised British subject and she was born in Ireland. For some reason the enumerator had a lot of trouble getting any information out of them.

Edit: Sorry, wrong person - he's much too young.

                          Thats him Denise

He died in 1867, his father James Byrne was a very well known Theatrical Actor and he also invented a Harliquin dress (sorry about the spelling)
His mother was Lucy Rossi and James and Lucy were married in 1803 unusually

                              Mary

Oscar spent most of his youth travelling around Ireland and spent alot of his time in the USA

His father James was born in Philidelphia in 1756 and his family were well known dancer's in America during the 18th century.

Found him with Amanda and children in 1851, mistranscribed as Byron. It says they were both born in London.
