  • Silly Question

I have sent an e-mail to the NZ bmd asking for help regarding my dads death certificate, they have sent me a return e-mail asking for debit card details plus a reference number, I have asked daughter and o.h and they both say I should phone rather than give my card details on an e-mail. silly question is the phone number they gave me is (+64 4) 474 8150, what does the plus sign mean.

It means you have to put your country's international telephone prefix before the number.

So from the UK you dial 00 then the number.

That means you dial 00 644 474 8150 as it is the international phone code.

I had to do a bit of hunting around to find out as I don't have international relatives so please do not feel it was a silly question. I guess we all have a first time.

Here is a link to help on bt.com: Phone Codes
