  • FOR OC - A Yorkshire Holden

    Any interest?

Brodsworth hall, near Doncaster. (Now English Heritage)

There is a display in one of the rooms about the staff, and one poster mentions the Head Coachman, a William Holden.

His 1891 census entry RG12/3860 folio 17 page 3, near the bottom

Born abt 1857, Tickhill, a short distance (today anyway) down the A1.

    Thankyou Vicky, how interesting.

I wonder if William is a descendant of the Holdens (Houldens) who lived around the area 100 years earlier?

I will investigate him when I've got a minute as you never know where they may have sprung from and why!

EDIT: Meant to say he has the Holden look especially round the eyes and upper forehead.
