  • DoVE project

I appreciate I may have missed a previous update on this subject,
but I was heartened today when I read this message which was posted on Sussex Family History Group via Rootsweb.

Thank you for your email to GRO Communications this morning about the
    >digitisation project, DoVE. Whilst it's disappointing for us that the
    >project has encountered delays, I can reassure you that IPS and GRO do
    >remain committed to completing the digitisation of all records, and it is
    >not the case that the DoVE project has been cancelled. What we are
    >currently doing is identifying the best course of action to take the
    >project forward, bearing in mind the need for us to use public funds as
    >efficiently as possible in the completion of this task.
    >
    >We hope to be able to put an update on the GRO website in the next few
    >weeks, but the item currently there, to which you refer, accurately
    >reflects the current situation.

Which means they will be putting it out to tender again. But whatever problems they had with Siemens, who had a 3-year-contract, will surely still apply.

In the meantime, we don't have access to the original GRO ledgers.
