  • grandads birth cert

Hi everyone, thanks for help so far with my other questions! Again though I am stuck!! I have tried to get grandfathers birth cert. He was born in Wandsworth so I contacted them, only the next day I got an email back saying they didn't have that record it was probably with Lambeth as ome records went there. So I emailed Lambeth, today I got, you guessed an email saying they didn't have it and to try Wandsworth. I have emailed them back to say Wandsworth told me to try thm as they didn't have it either! What now? Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know what I should do next?
    Thanks again

Have you tried GRO? I've never bought them anywhere else only because I'm in Australia and that's the only place worth trying.

Can you put his details up and I'll find the index. ***Only if he is not still living***

        Yep...it's there. Vol 1d, Page 828. Wandsworth.

I'm sure you could get that from GRO.

Most of the London Registration Offices will not provide certificates for family history purposes, so your best (and quickest) bet is to order it online from the GRO.

My experience of local register offices is that they are generally helpful...except the ones in London who just want to refer you elsewhere.
