Looks like Royal Field Artillery
RFA on his shoulder ... I think
Not modern enough to be WW2

This shows a Bombardier of the Royal Field Artillery and the photograph would date from the first world war period and just beyond to 1924. The badge that he wears in the middle of the chevron's is a trade badge denoting that he was employed as an Armourer so his rank would possibly have been entitled as Armourer-Bombardier the equivalent of this would be an
Armourer-Corporal in other regiments of the British Army.
