  • New Pricing Structure at Ancestry

Just went on to Ancestry to check that my renewal had gone through ok.

They seem to have a new set of sub options.

The £83 odd one, Annual Essentials, doesn't cover Pallot's and Parish and Probate records amongst other things. Those will come under the Annual Premium at £107.40. Worryingly, only the Annual Premium Membership includes "New historical content, as soon as it's released".

That's worrying - glad I have just renewed.

My £83 one (which I got £17 something off through quidco last week) has the Pallots? How strange, has it just gone up today then? £107- thats getting a bit much isnt it!

          Gets more and more expensive!

Thank goodness I have the Pallot's Marriage and Baptism CDs.

It is a bit odd. I have the Australian version (UK heritage) which cost slightly less than the normal UK version. They said it'd include all Aus records plus UK BMDs and censuses and more, but didn't specify what the "more" was. I can access Pallot's and Parish and Probate records, but not Irish records or new databases (like the recent one with pilots' licences).

At present that's OK by me, because although I have Irish ancestors, Ancestry doesn't have a lot in the way of Irish records.

              Oh ***!

Mine is due in October and I HAD intended to renew even though I have got about as far as I can with my tree (well you never know!)

If it's going to be that expensive, I think I may not bother.......
