Babs apparantly a .dat file can be made from loads of different programs, so unless you know what they used to make the file, you won't be able to open it. I would ask them to resend it to you as a text file, which you should be able to open in Wordpad.

            Babs

Take a copy of the file and try renaming it to Pickering.doc or Pickering.txt (what I mean is replace the .dat with .doc or .txt), then see if you can open it in MSWord.

I also have Pickerings from Pickering so if the file contains loads of Pickerings I'd love a peek to see if any matches. :D

Babs, I spoke to you a long long time ago about my Pickerings but we couldn't see any matches at the time. However if this Lady's file adds more Pickerings then it may well be very interesting.

Sorry have to go out now.

                    OK Babs :D:D

I think that my Pickerings and your OH's Pickerings will probably link somewhere back in the distance. It's just a case of finding the link. :D

                    Goodnight! :D

Oh, sorry if that sounds a bit cheeky. I am so frustrated about something else I feel I need a bit of a boost.

No probs Babs. My initial viewing of the file has not shown up any links for me although there is a place in the file ('Staintoft') which I found very interesting as I have a 'Saintoft'. However the names and dates I have don't appear to match.

Babs, I really really do want to be related (to someone, anyone in fact!), it just appears that everybody wants to disown me. :(

                                      :D:D

John, I am sure that you are not in the same club as I am. I do not have any living relations on my side of the family at all. All I have are very few on my husband 'John's' side.
Nice to see you on line again.
                                        Best wishes,
