its a 26 year old mother of three toddlers, married, but husband elsewhere- that is ok, he's a coachman so was prob off 'coaching' someone to somewhere.

if you want to see it in context it's -1871-

    Gawd knows, Jess!

The other occupations on the page are quite legible.

First bit I am guessing begins with a G and the other 2 words look like Daud Lest.

I am racking my brains - certainly isn't the usual laundress.

I'm wondering if 2nd bit is meant to be Doml. Serv. as there's a dom serv further down which looks more like it.

I'm now reading the first word as "General" which makes sense.

Dom Serv looks good - I can see that now ( I think!) with three kids under 5 and husband away - poor woman.

Just in case anyone is interested...

my dad had a letter from someone we are related to, who basically hail from Watford ( as far as their imediate family bit goes anyway.)

I have research the family for this bloke, and find when I get back to this particular family, in 1871 they lived where he lives now- Poulshot in Wilshire ( which is about as big a village as half a pocket hankie) - it made me go all goosey!
