  • Can I have some help with my Harmans please?

I am trying to see if and how this gentleman is connected to my tree. I have googled him but come up with very little personal information. I have quite a lot of his brewery info. Hillingdon fhs gave me this from a card index. Perhaps if I started with the census if some kind person would look for me please

George HARMAN born April 1793 brewer
    married Mary
Presented stain glass window to the new St Margarets Church, Iver Heath in 1863. churchwarden 1862-75
lived Park Lodge Fulmer Lodge Iver Heath
    died 15th March 1875 aged 82

    thank you

You have some useful bits of info there, but do you know where they came from? Is it what is inscribed on the window? Was there an obituary in the local paper?

I'm curious that they know his actual birth month, but not his parents. If it is from a memorial, does this mean there were no children?

And 1861. Looks like they never had children so if there is a connection to him it would be before census.

It is from a card index at Hillingdon fhs - they said that was the only info they had.
They have given me other Harman names ie George - cooper died 4/1/1777 and Mrs Elizabeth Harman - widow died 4/1/1814
but I don't know if these are his parents
Charles Harman died 3/5/1822 wife Elizabeth died 5/4/1835

This looks like him in 1851, Brewer says born Uxbridge Middlesex.
Mary born abt 1807, Dedham Essex.

I don't have ancestry - could you give me some details please?

George Harman living at Harman Lodge! There appear to be three households at this address.

George is 77, brewer, born Uxbridge. He has a new wife, Elizabeth aged 64, born Rickmansworth.

                      Thank you.
Surely he must have left a will. Will go and have another search and see what I can find.

Where are you looking? They only go up to 1858 on the National Archives site.

On the IGI there are 3 baps at Iver Heath ( which, as a place is as big as half a pocket hankie) which I guess are connected , if not his children

William, Henry & John , all christened Christening: 13 AUG 1865
                            Parents William & Charlotte Harman

update - that said there are truck loads of Harmans in the vicinity in 1851. Cartloads maybe

Barrel-loads, if he was a brewer, lol!

As for Wills, post-1858 you can't find them online. You need to search the Probate calendar I think, but I expect the answer is in The Wiki.
