  • James Welsh Bricklayer

    Hello all

I have James Welsh born c1824 in Chester Cheshire on the 1871 census, occupation Bricklayer and down as a widow.

    Class: RG10; Piece: 3721; Folio: 54; Page: 17

Now he looks to have died in 1877, but the thing is i cant find him on any census before 1871.

My other problem is that my 2xG nan Mary Ann Welsh married William Hodson in 1879 and she has her father down as James Welsh Brickmaker.
It dosent say that he is deceased but im not to worried about that as she may not have bothered mentioning that.

But on the 1871 census he is a widow and has no kids living with him.

    Any help would be fantastic

I should mention also that his daughter Mary Ann Welsh was 19 when she married in 1879.

            Thankyou JBee

Do you happen to know what his occupation was on the 1841 census.

yes I noticed that - did wonder if they'd crept into Wales or Scotland too.

I've got a missing brickie who between census moved from Edinburgh to England (where I haven't a clue) and back to Edinburgh for next census. Unfortunately son born whilst in England is called John Smith!!!
