      Hi OC

He says he has the marriage cert, they married in 1848 in St Wilfred Standish.

Have you got a copy cert you could swap the copy marriage cert for? That usually pleases people!

            Glad you found a contact

              Hi merry

I do have some certs that he would like and he is going to send me copies of the ones i need.

He did however reel off what was on the marriage cert for John Seddon and Margaret Green.

They married 30/01/1848 at St Wilfreds Standish Lancashire.

John's father was Edward Seddon a Bricklayer from Shevington.

Margaret's father was James Green a Labourer.

Its nice to have a copy anyway..
Oh we are a suspicious lot mind I have been fibbed to before by people saying they had certs.
One contact on gr asked for access to my tree and assured me they were related. They quoted a marriage cert word for word as proof BUT the scanner was broken so they couldnt send a copy... I didnt give access but ordered the cert and surprisingly the date, brides father and witnesses were wrong. I let the person know but he never replied!

I am not saying your contact is telling porkies though! just what can happen..

                  Better safe than sorry.

I was looking at the gedcom database on here earlier as i wanted to see if any one had any of my new rellies and i searched for a Ann Rigby who married my John Sinclair.

Now no matches came up but i did spot that you had some Rigby's of your own, Wigan must have gone round in circles with the same surnames always popping up

                  Were definately getting closer.

Yes, I too have been caught by someone who says they have the marriage cert, when all they really have is the INDEX number, and have made up the details to suit their research!
