  • Kelly's directories - worth getting ?

    The 1911 Portsmouth Kelly Directory on CD interests me, as I have loads of Portsmouth ancestors..........and a family reunion to sort out (so bits and pieces of info would be great to get)

    Is it worth getting ?

    Or should I say go for the 1918 version, as the 1911 Census 'should' be released in a year or two !?!?

    How easy is it to search Kelly directories ? They are £12 each.

    I would welcome any thoughts and opinions.

    Thanks

    Simon

    The Kelly's Directory of Hampshire & Isle of Wight, 1911 is freely available on the Historical Directories website - might be worth checking it.

      Thanks for this link, Elaine.
      I've just spent a while scanning through the Dorset 1915 stuff trying to get clues for my errant g'father. Got one chap to follow up on, so that was a very useful link! Off to find out more - BMD's, I guess.

      Bee~~~fuddled.

      Searching for BANKS, MILLER, MOULTON from Lancs and Cheshire; COX from Staffordshire and Birmingham;
      COX, HALL, LAMBDEN, WYNN, from Hants and Berks; SYMES (my mystery g'father!) from anywhere near Bournemouth.
