    Not trying to hijack Peppie or anything but would some non subscriber to Ancestry anything try this:

    (1) Search public member trees on Ancestry uk for Jubal Smith born I836 England and try to access the Haywood/Gray tree. Ancestry uk asks me to upgrade.

    (2) Go to Généalogie, arbres généalogiques et dossiers d’histoire de famille en ligne - Ancestry.fr and do the same search and bingo you're in without upgrading

            OK maybe I was jumping the gun a bit - when you get to that page - in the grey box enter Jubal under 'prénim' and 'smith' under 'nom' then click 'recherche'.

            On next page select 'arbres généalogiques'.

            Haywood/gray is the third one down
