  • Llanfawr and Gweddlewern North Wales

I'm looking for two births (pre 1837) in Llanfawr and Gweddlewern North Wales.

    Robert Jones b. c 1813 in Gweddlewern
Martha Jones b. c.1811 in Llanfawr

They married in 1839 at Gweddlewern, St. Beuno (but this doesn't seem to be in the GRO)

1841 + 1851 (census) running the Eagles Inn in Corwen

Not sure where to look next?

Where did you get the marriage year from? (do you have an exact date?)

You are going to need the parish registers for the places in question, but I don't know how you willl sort out the right baps (unless you are very lucky and there's only one of each name!!) Sometimes people can be eliminated by looking at the burial records too.

Do you know the marriage witnesses?

This could be the marriage from freeBMD

        Marriages Jun 1839
        JONES Martha
        Corwen 27 654

        Marriages Jun 1839
        JONES Robert
        Corwen 27 [68]54

I'll check the image for Robert.

Update - definitely Corwen 27, 654 for both Robert and Martha.

No it was a look up from the Gwyddelwern registers, assuming they married where the wife was born, but as they were in Corwen in 1840 - (first child was born there) they could have moved there before their marriage.
