  • How do i know?

    Hello everyone

I ve just ordered the marriage cert for my GG Grandparents.
I was wondering how i go about ordering both their birth certs, the reason i ask such a silly question is because on Freereg there are about 3/4 possibles.
Exact same name and same year, even some born same qtr.

    Any suggestions?

You will know their father's name from the marriage and could find them on the census to find their mother's name. You could then add these names as ref checking points or get the birth cert of a sibling where you are sure it is the one.

Best just to give the father's name as a checking point, because you will have that from the marriage cert and the father's wife on the census could be a stepmother or going by a nickname which wouldn't be used on a birth certificate.

          Thankyou Kite

I will probably only use the fathers name, knowing my luck though there will be about 4 different familes with Ellen and the same father:D
