Where shall I look now ?

I have a very near relative I have found on the Records and I have his Birth date,and I have checked him out with Ancestry and FreeBMD and he definatley is my relative with the correct parents, but I cant find a Marriage or Death for him have looked in both sites,but difficult to find as I dont have the dates at all, the strange thing is we never ever knew of him !! I knew all the other brother and sisters but no mention of him at all, and I cant ask anyone now, any ideas where I can look please.

Is he likely to still be alive? Or can you post his name & birth date, so we can cast another pair of eyes for you?

Have you tried on the passenger lists on findmypast to see if he emigrated, Patti? And is there a chance he might still be alive? If so, then you could try the electoral register and / or phone books. Actually, you could try the historical phone books on ancestry anyway.

When you say you've searched for a marriage or death for him on ancestry, have you gone through all the indexes quarter by quarter, or just their FreeBMD search, which doesn't cover all the years?

Patti, have you searched every Q of the GRO deaths and marriages from 1914 through to 1983? Most of that time frame isn't transcribed anywhere (only the first few years on FreeBMD with a copy on Ancestry)

He was an infant death ... which is probably why he was not mentioned.

Sorry, every quarter for each year.......Most of up to around 1920 is on FreeBMD (not every quarter though, if you look at the FreeBMD home page and then under Information and then Coverage you can see bar charts for what has been achieved), but after that the coverage dwindles a lot.

As you knew the rest of this family except this one, I wonder if he died fairly young?

Erm......Bridget, that death is Ernest F rather than Edward F :o

There's no birth for an Ernest in the previous few quarters, so I think it's highly likely it's the same child. Those GRO indexes are re-typed ones, so it could just be an indexing error.

I have just checked again and its not the same person,my birth details have his middle name written as [F] and he is on the Oct Nov Dec quarter,thanks for trying folks.

But the death is for Ernest F. so if the error was Ernest instead of Edward, this would be him.
