can you help me and my gr contact see if they are the same person

my james holmes born
30 JUN 1833 Shoreditch, London, England souce igi

only time on i found on census 1851 Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 1474; Folio: 559; Page: 13; GSU roll: 87797.

parents jame and Sophia

the other james was born around the same time and same area maybe and was a painter and had a son charles h holmes 1862-1935 and another son arthur William holmes 1865 both born in Chelsea, London

on charles marriage cert it says (this is from my contact)Charles's marriage certificate he was married on the 14th April 1884 to Harriet Dunning .The Reference was 1884 Qtr: J, Vol 01a Page 574. Charles and Harriet were both living in Kensal Town at the time of their marriage and his father was James, occupation painter and Harriets father was Amos occupation Labourer

Not sure how you can link up the James you have (baptism and census with parents) and a later James who is married with sons?

If you can't find your James after 1851 and there's no likely death, then he probably is the chap who emerges married later on.

Cannot see an Arthur Holmes in 1871 with parents James & Harriet. There is one born Chelsea abt 1865, but his parents are William & Caroline.

You would need to find Charles and Arthur on the censuses to see who their mother was, probably also your contact would need to get Charles's birth certificate to check it is the correct mother, then they would need to get the marriage certificte for Charles's parents, and that will say who James's father was - then they will be able to say if his father is the same one as your James's father.
