  • a very stupid question...

I live in Ontario, Canada and I am trying to find some Baker living relatives in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. I've thought about calling, but it would be very expensive since there are quite a few in the phonebook. Is there another way I could try, or should I just stick with finding my dead relatives? (ha ha) My grandfather visited there often, but i never knew who they were.

Why don't you write to them all, enclosing an sae and asking them to return it empty if they are not the people you are looking for?

Baker is a very common name. Do you have first names for these people?

Possibly, if you have a specific area of Newcastle, you could try placing an ad or a letter in the relevant local newspaper.

Are you sure they are still living there?

Have you tried looking on Genes Reuniited to see if anyone has the specific Bakers you are looking for?

Did you ever get the marriage cert for John Baker and Lily Blair?

As Nell said, a letter in the local newspaper can work wonders

I don't know if you have access to Ancestry, but there are several trees on there with John S L Baker on.
