  • My Waterfield saga revisited

I went back to Leics Archives today and I still know nothing more!

I can confirm that my tree back to Thomas Waterfield born Thringstone c.1774 as correct as it is all based in Mansfield. An examination of Margaret Waterfall of Mansfield states Thomas was born in Thringstone. An examination of Sarah Waterfield states her deceased husband was the brother of Thomas Waterfield stockinger of Mansfield. So I know that John and Thomas were brothers. The Waterfield research that is shared states that there parents are Richard Waterfield and Hannah Stenson but I can't see how. Also a Richard Waterfall marries Mary Ward(le) in Whitwick.

Jacob Sudders born in Prussia c.1775 married Alice Pidgeon in 1800 in Gorelston. Do you know where Jacob was born?

So there's no bap in Thringstone? (I've forgotten, was Thringstone part of another parish?)

This might be a bit too obvious, but have you checked Thringstone PR's for their baptisms?

What did you check in Leics archives? Surely what you need is the baptisms of Thomas and John, and then to look for likely marriage of parents.

Wasn't it Coalville PR's you were going to look at? (Thringstone's in the parish of Coalville)

I checked Thringstone that was part of Whitwick in those days - nothing!

I have checked Coleorton - nothing!

I checked settlement certs etc - the only ones there were copies of the ones at Nottm Archives.

And I have never heard of this other Richard and Mary before!
