  • Help with 1901 census.

I am trying to trace Walter(1878) and Ellen(1881) Harris on the 1901 census. They got married in December 1900 so presumably there will be no children with them.
Also Louise(a) Battams she was born in 1895.Her family Thomas William(1851) and Maria(1852) have been shown as Bottoms, Battani, Badhams and Batane in fact it was only the 1901 census that shows the proper name for her family! Louisa is missing from that census.
They are from the Aston Birmingham area. Any help please?

Elaine her parents are on the 1901 census, so presume she is 'visiting somewhere.

Do you have the 1900 marriage certificate - if so do you have an address?

Walters occupation was tube drawer, and their address on the marriage certificate is St Gabriel's parish.

Can you give a year of birth for either of them so we can search in a different way?

Yeh I just saw that! (Hawes, though!)

I wonder if the householder had crummy writing and the enumerator read it wrong?

The image looks more like Harris than it does Hawes.

Merry and Elaine. Than you, thank you both. I have only just come back on, and picked up your comments last night.
I have now because of those postings found dear Walter and Emma Hawes -RG13; Piece: 2863; Folio: 69; Page: 34.They have two boarders with them Doris and Melly Howtin. Walters mother was Emma Hawtin and her daughter before she married James Harris was Nelly Hawtin . Walter and Emma were my husbands grandparents - traced at last Thank you again.
