  • Area of birth help please

    Hello everybody

I had a look at some marriages today for Mosfort's and i had some good luck with them.
Anyhow, i had a look on Ancestry and it states that Sarah Mosfort was born c1783 Cheshire.

I think the 1841 says she and Jonathan were born of this county (Tiverton, Bunbury)

Could somebody please have a wee look at the census and tell me what they think.

Class: HO107; Piece 96; Book: 14; Civil Parish: Bunbury; County: Cheshire; Enumeration District: 15A; Folio: 6; Page: 17; Line: 22; GSU roll: 241236.

    The name is Colley.

    Hi Danny

    Remember ages were rounded.

Sarah is shown as 50, born in county.

    Remembering: Cuthbert Gregory 1889 - 1916, George Arnold Connelly 1886 - 1917, Thomas Lowe Davenport 1890 - 1917, Roland Davenport Farmer 1885 - 1916, William Davenport Sheffield 1879 - 1915, Cuthbert Gregory 1918 - 1944

Looks like Jonathan died in OND 1844 Great Boughton 19, 21, but I cannot see a death for a Sarah in the same reg't district.

Where did you get the date of birth as c1783 from? the 1841 says c1791.

        Hey Tom

I have a couple of distant rellies with her on there tree's none of whom are in contact with each other and today when i went to the Cheshire archives i found her marriage and she was married in january 1803 which would be too early if she was born c1791

          Danny

Girls could marry at age 12! Unusual, but not impossible. With the rounding down of ages in 1841, she could have been nearly 17.

What proof do the Ancestry trees have of her age/birth year/marriage? Are you sure you have the correct marriage?

            Hey OC

I definatley have the correct marriage as Sarah's last name is Mosfort and she is the only Mosfort who married a Jonathan Colley.

My contacts sent me each there copy's of there tree and with there links to mine it all matched with year of birth.

I will email them and see how they came up with 1783.

Im also gonna go to the archives and search for her baptism in Tiverton to make sure.
